Who Makes Autobahn Tint
Autobahn is a window film brand founded in 2011, with its contact address in Houston, Texas. Its films are sold through authorized installers, and the warranty depends on that: the film has to be installed by an authorized Autobahn dealer and registered. The specs on this page come from Autobahn’s own film comparison, so you can check them.

The TSER figures are Autobahn’s, measured on each line’s darkest shade. For the windshield, we use Autobahn Black ($180), Autobahn Black Ceramic ($250) or Autobahn Ceramic i3 ($350).

Autobahn Shades and Specs, Shade by Shade
Every Autobahn line comes in several shades, and the heat numbers change with the shade. Autobahn publishes these for its two top films:

Autobahn Black comes in eight shades from 5% to 56%, and Black Ceramic in seven shades from 5% to 54%. All four lines are rated at over 99% UV rejection at every shade.
Two things to take from these tables. First, the lighter i3 shades still reject a lot of heat: i3 40 rejects 60%, close to i3 05’s 71%, while letting eight times as much light through. Second, the heat number you’ll see in ads is always the darkest shade, so ask which shade a quote is for.
Which Autobahn Shades Are Legal in Texas?
Texas requires at least 25% light transmission on the front side windows; the rear side windows and the back glass can be any darkness. With Ceramic i3, the 33%, 40%, 56% and 70% shades clear the front-window rule. With i3+, the 30 shade measures 32% and the 40 shade measures 42%, so both work on the front doors. A common setup is a darker shade on the back windows and a legal lighter shade on the fronts. The Autobahn Warranty, in Plain Terms
Here’s what Autobahn’s published warranty says:
- Limited lifetime coverage against defects in material and workmanship: discoloration, cracking, blistering, bubbling, peeling, demetallizing and delamination.
- Installed by an authorized dealer and registered within 30 days. No registration, no coverage.
- Covered defects: the film is replaced at no cost to the vehicle owner.
- Transferable to the car’s next owner, once per vehicle, for a $99 fee.
- A one-time No-Fault benefit for the original buyer if one window is damaged by an outside impact: up to $350 for i3+, $250 for i3, $150 for Black Ceramic and $75 for Black.
- Glass failure coverage of up to $1,000 per vehicle for non-impact glass damage such as stress fractures.

Is Autobahn Tint Good? An Installer’s View
- The numbers are published. Autobahn lists TSER and glare reduction for every shade, so you can compare real figures instead of marketing words.
- There’s a film for every budget, from $269 to the top-rated i3+, so you aren’t forced into the most expensive option to get a brand you trust.
- The warranty is specific. It names what’s covered, adds a No-Fault benefit and glass coverage, and can transfer to the next owner.
- Installation matters as much as the film. We’re certified by Autobahn, and every person on our team is certified. A great film installed badly still fails.

- Autobahn Black if you mainly want the look, privacy and less glare, on a budget.
- Autobahn Ceramic if you want real heat rejection for a North Texas summer: up to 63% versus Black’s 43%, for $91 to $150 more.
- Autobahn Ceramic i3 if you spend a lot of time in the car, park in the sun, or want the windshield done too.
- i3+ if you want the highest heat rejection Autobahn makes.

Autobahn vs 3M
We install both, so we don’t have a reason to push one. Our top 3M film, 3M Ceramic IR, is rated by 3M at 95% infrared rejection and costs $499–$649. Autobahn Ceramic i3 runs $549–$699, and on a pickup both are $649. Note that infrared rejection and TSER are different measurements, so the two numbers can’t be compared directly.
